Maintenance Management Services

In many organizations there comes a time when it becomes necessary to consider the outsourcing of the management of the maintenance group.  Typical scenarios include:

  • The maintenance organization is no longer able to meet the needs of a LEAN production operation, your growing business, or increased customer demands.
  • The maintenance group is hopelessly locked in a downward spiral of reactive maintenance activities and life is one emergency after another.
  • The maintenance improvement plan is not being executed.
  • Maintenance expenses are unpredictable and overtime expenses are high
  • It is difficult to hire and retain good maintenance people

TAG provides Maintenance Management Services where our experienced resources can either assume directed control of the maintenance operation or come along side your maintenance management group and guide them through a transition of your maintenance organization. At the heart of this activity is a process where TAG will evaluate, make recommendations in all areas and facets of maintenance operations, and then work with your team to implement the needed improvements.

TAG’s Approach includes:

  1. An experienced TAG associate to assume control of, or work in conjunction with, the Maintenance Group as manager or supervisor with complete responsibilities to client management and direct accountability to the management decision maker.
  2. Observation, evaluation, and study of every aspect of the maintenance organization to include current mode of operation, procedures, environment, organization, wrench time, and maintenance group skill sets.
  3. Evaluation of the use of proactive maintenance tools such as CMMS, Planning & Scheduling, Storeroom Organization, PM Optimization, Predictive Technologies, and Reliability Kaizen.
  4. Identify and prioritize area of opportunity and create a detailed improvement plan to include formalized new maintenance procedures.
  5. Assistance with the execution of the improvement plan
  6. Identification, hiring, and training of the new maintenance leadership and the construction of the final organization chart (if requested)

Estimated time for effective study, training, and implementation is 6-9 months. Depending on the size and complexity of the maintenance group, the time may be greater or less. Most of the tasks will be performed simultaneously and decrease the assessment time.
