Ed Plott
Ed Plott is an Associate of TranSystems|The ACCESS Group with over twenty years of experience in various manufacturing industries including electric motors, appliances, millwork, and aerospace electrical systems. Ed has held positions as plant manager, operations manager, director of manufacturing engineering, and manufacturing/industrial engineering manager. Ed has worked with companies such as Central Woodwork, A.O. Smith, DESA International, Electrolux, and Sundstrand.
Ed possesses strong skills and experience in operational performance metrics, 5-S, visual factory, plant layout, capital equipment projects, capacity planning, waste identification/elimination, productivity improvement, and safety program development. Ed began his career as an industrial engineer and thus is well grounded in operational performance initiatives. His background includes 5-S process development, major capital equipment project management, product line transfers, plant layout rearrangement, capacity resource planning, kanban/material handling planning, work cell design, visual aid development, SMED, TPM, and kaizen event leadership. He has hands-on experience introducing, developing, and managing lean processes as a change agent. Ed has been heavily involved in large-scale plant modifications and start-ups. He has excellent analytic, interpersonal, and teaming skills. He is a seasoned professional who portrays both hands-on and leadership characteristics.
Ed’s studies, at the collegiate level, were at Bowling Green State University in Ohio where he earned a BS in Technology, with a concentration in manufacturing. He also earned a MBA degree at Ashland University, also in Ohio, with a focus on executive management. He has successfully completed many advanced training courses in the area of lean manufacturing such as the Toyota production system, demand flow technology, six sigma, kaizen, continuous improvement teams, and manufacturing leadership.
